Can a Family Photoshoot Be Fun for the Kids or Is It Just for Me?

Lol - you did not actually ask this did you? Cause we all know it’s usually the kids who have the most fun.

I know the thought of wrangling small humans into decent outfits and expecting them to sit still might sound like a recipe for disaster—but hear me out. A family photo session with me isn’t about stiff poses or saying cheese on repeat.

As a family photographer in Brisbane, I’ve made it my mission to make these sessions feel like playtime, not pressure.

We run. We chase. We play silly games. I make funny noises, pull faces, and fully commit to being the least serious person in the room if it helps get a genuine giggle.

Some kids arrive shy, others arrive like they’ve had three Zooper Doopers before 9am.

Either way, I meet them where they are and let them lead the pace.

The goal isn’t perfect behaviour—it’s genuine connection.

By the end of the session, it’s not uncommon to hear, “Can we do that again?” from the kids.

And for you - beautiful, joy-filled photos of your family being exactly who they are, right now. That’s the magic.
