Free maternity photos in Brisbane when you book newborn photos

You're growing an entire human being. You're probably tired, your boobs have developed a personality of their own and putting shoes on has become a 30 minute physical event.
I reckon you deserve a little pampering.
So when you book your newborn photography with me at my Bunya studio in Brisbane, I'll include a free maternity photo session. You get to come and play dress-ups in my gorgeous gowns, swan around the gardens looking fabulous and let me make a proper fuss of you for 40 minutes.
So yes, you can book a combined maternity and newborn photo package in Brisbane with me, and the maternity half is free. Both sessions go into one gallery for you to choose your favourite images from.
It's one of my favourite things to do with my expectant mums, and there's a very good reason I offer it.
Well, two actually.
I love a good dress-up session, and I want us to know each other better before your baby arrives.
Why I include free maternity photos in Brisbane with your newborn photos
Let's do an imagination game for a sec. Picture yourself two weeks after giving birth.
You've got a beautiful little baby, you're running on approximately eleven minutes of sleep and leaving the house now requires the logistical planning of a military operation.
After packing seventeen nappies and wondering if you've brushed your teeth, you've got to take your precious new baby to meet a complete stranger who's going to photograph them.
Doesnt sound stressful much at all right?
Now imagine you've already been here.
You've driven up my driveway, had a stickybeak around the studio, met me and spent 40 minutes laughing while I've fussed over you in a fabulous frock.
You know where everything is and you know I'm a bit of a chatterbox. You've seen the gardens, met the person who's going to be handling your baby and probably told me half your life story.
When you come back with your newborn, you're coming somewhere familiar.
You can plonk yourself on the couch, have a cuppa, feed your baby and let me take over for a bit.
And that, my lovely, is exactly why I do it.

Your free maternity session in Bunya: come and be a goddess for 40 minutes
Pregnancy is a funny old thing. One minute you're marvelling at the absolute miracle of growing a human and the next you're standing in front of the fridge eating cheese straight from the packet because you're starving again.
And while your body is doing something extraordinary, you might not be feeling particularly extraordinary yourself.
But I've got your back on this one. I've got a wardrobe full of beautiful maternity gowns begging to be worn, and you get to choose up to two of them.
Floaty ones and fitted ones, belly out or belly in, dark colours and light colours or just wear your own jean and a shirt. What I am saying is, we've got options.
I'll help you choose something gorgeous, show you exactly how to stand and where to put your hands, and generally make a ridiculous fuss over you.
For 40 minutes, your only job is to let someone else look after you.
We'll photograph your beautiful bump, have a good laugh and create some gorgeous photos of this very fleeting chapter of your life.
Because although you might currently feel like a heavily pregnant potato, I promise there's a whole lot of beauty in that bump.
And I know exactly how to photograph it.

You can browse the maternity gowns here before your session and start planning your little fashion moment.
Bring the family. Or don't!
Your partner is most welcome to join us, as are any older kids. I love photographing the whole family together before the newest little member makes their grand entrance.
But if you'd prefer to come on your own and enjoy a bit of quiet girl time that's fine too.
We can shoot inside my air conditioned studio or head outside into the private gardens. I've got about two acres of beautiful greenery to play with, so we'll find somewhere gorgeous.
Maternity sessions are best around 32 to 36 weeks pregnant, when you've got a lovely round bump but can still move around reasonably comfortably.
We'll be finished in about 40 minutes, although the amount of chatting I manage to squeeze into that time is frankly impressive.

What happens at your newborn session when you come back with your baby
A few weeks later, you're back, only this time you've got a tiny new person with you.
Your newborn session is a completely different pace to your maternity photos.
We set aside around 2.5 hours, because babies couldn't care less about my schedule, and quite frankly, they're in charge. There are feeds, cuddles, nappy changes and occasionally a spectacular amount of poo.
I've been photographing newborns for 15+ years, so none of this fazes me. I've also got my newborn photography safety certification, first aid certification and Blue Card, so those precious little humans are in experienced hands.
My sessions are calm and baby-led. We work around what your baby needs, and there's no pressure to rush.
You can get comfy, watch me work and enjoy a couple of hours where someone else is doing most of the heavy lifting.
Older siblings and partners are welcome in the photos too. I love getting those first family portraits when everyone is still figuring out who this brand-new little person is.

How the combined maternity and newborn gallery works
Your maternity and newborn photos all go into one beautiful gallery and you'll usually have 15 or more maternity images and 50 or more newborn images to choose from.
When we catch up for your viewing appointment, you can choose your favourites from both sessions.
Perhaps you fall in love with three maternity photos and seven newborn photos. Perhaps you decide you need that you need every precious moment and have some very difficult decisions to make.
I can't help you there. I make the decisions harder by taking too many gorgeous photos.
You only buy what you love, and to help you out, theres a collection that just simply includes the whole lot.
For example, if you choose my album collection, you'll receive all the images from both sessions along with a beautiful fine art album. Your gorgeous bump, your brand-new baby and the very beginning of your family's next chapter, all together. See my photography collections and pricing here.
A few little details about your free maternity photos
I know pregnancy brain is a real thing, so here's everything important in one spot.
It's genuinely free. Your maternity photography session is complimentary when you book newborn photography with me.
We'll spend about 40 minutes together. Enough time to get some gorgeous photos and have a good natter.
Come around 32 to 36 weeks pregnant. That's my favourite time to photograph bumps.
I've got the frocks covered. You can choose up to two maternity gowns from my studio wardrobe.
Bring your people. Partners and older children are welcome.
Indoor or outdoor, your choice. My Bunya studio has both.
There's no expiry date. This isn't some flash sale. I offer complimentary maternity sessions with my newborn bookings all year round.
And remember, your maternity and newborn photographs go into the same gallery, so you can choose your favourites from both when you're ready.
Have a little look at a newborn session behind the scenes
I know handing your tiny new baby over to someone else is a big deal, especially when it's your first.
So I've got a little behind-the-scenes video showing what happens during a newborn session. These BTS videos are captured at every newborn shoot and included in the All Digitals collections.
You can see how I handle and settle the babies, how relaxed the studio is and how much goes on behind the scenes to get those beautiful sleepy photos.
Fair warning, watching me work with babies may make you even more impatient to meet yours.
I'd love to meet you and your bump
If you're expecting a baby and looking for a newborn photographer in Brisbane, I'd love to have you come and visit.
We'll get you dresed in the gowns or do a casual contemporary session in jeans and a shirt. Eitehr way, we'll take some gorgeous maternity photos and get to know each other before your little one arrives.
Then, when it's time for your newborn session, you already know where you're going, who's looking after your baby and where to find the good couch.
I'll take care of the photos. You get on with growing that little human.
Get in touch with me here and we'll get you booked in. Can't wait to meet you both!

About Tarsh
I'm Natarsha March, but everyone calls me Tarsh. I've been photographing Brisbane's newborns, babies and families for 15 years and have welcomed more than 1,600 families into my Bunya studio.
I've won plenty of photography awards over the years, but I still get ridiculously excited when a mum sees her photos and realises how beautiful she looks.
My studio is tucked away on a private two-acre property on Brisbane's northside, complete with indoor studio space, gorgeous gardens and a photographer who talks far too much.
I take newborn safety seriously, but I'm a big believer that having family photos taken should be a lovely experience in itself.
You'll leave with beautiful memories, and there's every chance we'll have had a bloody good laugh along the way.
