Is it normal not to feel bonded with my baby straight away?

Short answer: yes.

Slightly longer answer: yes, and you are not alone.

Movies make it look like you’re supposed to fall instantly, madly in love the moment your baby arrives.

But sometimes the birth is traumatic.

Sometimes the exhaustion is overwhelming.

Sometimes you’re just so full of hormones and worry and questions that there’s no room for that picture-perfect bond straight away.

That’s normal.

Love takes time to grow – and it will grow.

One thing I hear a lot as a baby photographer in Brisbane is, “I feel like I’m doing it wrong.”

And I always say, “You’re not.” You’re learning, your baby’s learning, and you’re both doing the best you can.

During your newborn photography session, I’ll gently guide you through sweet, snuggly poses that feel natural and warm.

No pressure. No awkward staging.

Just you and your baby, connecting in a way that’s true for you.

And sometimes, seeing those images can help the feelings catch up.
